It's similar to a DSLR in that you can change lenses, but the micro four-thirds system doesn't use a pentaprism or mirror, so it's not a DSLR. Panasonic calls it a DILC: Digital Interchangeable Lens Camera. I don't see "DILC" taking off as a term, but this camera is hot stuff...it's been selling out everywhere, and Panasonic is struggling to keep up with demand. It uses SD cards and supports SDHC. The GF1 has a 12.1 megapixel Live MOS sensor (17.3 x 13.0mm in size), capturing JPEG or raw images at a maximum resolution of 4000 x 3000 pixels. I bought my Panasonic NV-GS11 video camera from eBay and for the cost, it seemed perfect. I liked the feel of the camera, it's simplicity of use, until I tried to transfer my movie to a PC and that's when the trouble started!

Normally, when you connect a camera using the USB connection, your PC recognises the device and you can use it straight away. I had no end of problems getting the PC to do this and I thought the driver was at fault.

The answer, in hindsight, is that in the menu there are 2 items for the USB Function, "web camera" and "DV Studio" - the software for acquiring still photos from the camera. Choose "web camera", connect your camera to the PC via the USB connection and switch on the camera using the Playback mode. Check "My Computer" and there should be a video camera icon with "USB Video Device" beside it. Double click onto this icon will open up a page, where if you start your movie from the camera, you can see the results on the PC screen. Unfortunately, there's nowhere on this page where you can save the movie itself.

I searched with Google and found the answer. Many people had the same issue but there didn't seem to any answers. Eventually, I found one reply on a forum way down the page which provided the solution.

Download Windows Movie Maker from the Microsoft page. This is for Windows XP:-

Open Movie Maker and you will see " Capture from video device" This allows you to save your movie into a directory of your choice and later burn the movie onto a CD using your favourite software.

From time to time there are errors or corruptions in the registry. Besides these the registry can sometimes become bloated which can slow down the computer. As these occur more and more, the speed of the system tends to start slowing down. With some corruptions there can actually be complete freeze ups where the system locks up.

If you aren't sure if it's the registry or not, it's best to run your usual virus and malware scans to see if it's not one of those as it can be in many cases. It's also not a bad idea to do a system restore to a previous saved point if you start to encounter some sudden problems that you previously did not have the day before.

If you aren't sure what the problem is, it could be time to run a registry scan to see if there are corruptions. A registry scan will point out any unneeded files, duplicate files, errors, corruptions, or other issues within the registry that you might not have been aware of. Using a registry cleaner tool will do this scan for you and help fix any registry problems that exist.
