It's similar to a DSLR in that you can change lenses, but the micro four-thirds system doesn't use a pentaprism or mirror, so it's not a DSLR. Panasonic calls it a DILC: Digital Interchangeable Lens Camera. I don't see "DILC" taking off as a term, but this camera is hot stuff...it's been selling out everywhere, and Panasonic is struggling to keep up with demand. It uses SD cards and supports SDHC. The GF1 has a 12.1 megapixel Live MOS sensor (17.3 x 13.0mm in size), capturing JPEG or raw images at a maximum resolution of 4000 x 3000 pixels. It's also capable of 720p video capture (1280 x 720) in either AVCHD Lite or MJPEG formats. It can shoot in burst mode, up to three frames per second. Like the video? I bought my Panasonic NV-GS11 video camera from eBay and for the cost, it seemed perfect. I liked the feel of the camera, it's simplicity of use, until I tried to transfer my movie to a PC and that's when the trouble started!

Normally, when you connect a camera using the USB connection, your PC recognises the device and you can use it straight away. I had no end of problems getting the PC to do this and I thought the driver was at fault.

The answer, in hindsight, is that in the menu there are 2 items for the USB Function, "web camera" and "DV Studio" - the software for acquiring still photos from the camera. Choose "web camera", connect your camera to the PC via the USB connection and switch on the camera using the Playback mode. Check "My Computer" and there should be a video camera icon with "USB Video Device" beside it. Double click onto this icon will open up a page, where if you start your movie from the camera, you can see the results on the PC screen. Unfortunately, there's nowhere on this page where you can save the movie itself.

I searched with Google and found the answer. Many people had the same issue but there didn't seem to any answers. Eventually, I found one reply on a forum way down the page which provided the solution.

Download Windows Movie Maker from the Microsoft page. This is for Windows XP:-

Open Movie Maker and you will see " Capture from video device" This allows you to save your movie into a directory of your choice and later burn the movie onto a CD using your favourite software.

If you aren't sure what the problem is, it could be time to run a registry scan to see if there are corruptions. A registry scan will point out any unneeded files, duplicate files, errors, corruptions, or other issues within the registry that you might not have been aware of. Using a registry cleaner tool will do this scan for you and help fix any registry problems that exist.

Digital Cameras are great and I believe everyone should own one. The advantages of having a digital camera are numerous. Odds are, you probably already own one or maybe you are on your 2nd or 3rd. They are very convenient, extremely portable (great for traveling and packing in a suitcase), most take good photographs but, they are not without their disadvantages either. Unless, you are aware of the 3 Most Common Disadvantages, and which brands rank much higher with professionals and consumers, your next digital camera purchase might leave you disappointed. All cameras are not of equal quality.

Image Quality Speed Problems With Low Light

As long as you are aware of these 3 main problems with digital cameras and which one's have the best ratings and reviews in these areas, you will be a well - armed shopper. I personally, am tired of spending my money on something that sounded great and will "solve" whatever problem, we are having, only to get it home and find out it was mostly good advertising and hype. It really does pay to do your research ahead of time.

Panasonic also has 1 of my best in category cameras without the 3 main disadvantages, the Panasonic Lumix LX 5. This is easily still one of the most popular cameras around. It Ranks #2 out of 89 in a current review in "Dave's Picks" on Imaging Resource. It will also take care of the Low Light problem for you. It does very well in low light so, there is one problem eliminated. Panasonic also has Leica Lenses that are considered some of the best Lenses in the world.

The Canon SX30 IS is, another superb digital camera. It's popularity is growing by leaps and bounds. It has Stereo Sound and Canon is known to excel with their Super Zoom. Both of these cameras are excellent choices and will greatly help to eliminate the 3 Main Digital Camera Disadvantages.
